FAQs

Why Does my Candle Have Rough Spots After Burning?

Did your burn your new candle and then notice some rough or crystallike features after the wax solidified? Don't worry, this is normal! Those rough spots are part of the all natural aspect of soy wax! They can also be a result of the wax cooling at an inconsistent rate. But either way, this does not affect your candles scent or performance.

Why Soy Wax?

Soy wax is an all natural wax derived from soybeans, making this wax non toxic and clean burning. Soy wax also burns slower and longer, making your favorite candle last even longer.

*Be careful with "soy blend" candles as they are often blended with paraffin wax which is full of toxins that have been linked to cancer and respiratory issues.

Are Your Fragrance Oils Clean and Safe?

Yes! Our fragrance oils are vegan, cruelty free, and free of:

  • phthalates
  • carcinogens
  • mutagens
  • reproductive, organ, and acute toxins
  • ingredients found on California's Proposition 65 List

What are all these toxins and where are they found? Click the button to learn more

Why are your candles not as strong as the bigger brand candles?

Most big brand candle companies that are known for their strongly scented candles, use paraffin wax, synthetic fragrances, and sometimes even chemical stabilizers. All of the above contain harmful toxins and chemicals that have been linked to cancer, respiratory issues and other harmful effects.

At Paws for Pitties Candles we use 100% soy wax, toxin free fragrances and a pure cotton wick in our candles giving you a clean burn every time.

In addition, we like to ensure our candles are not too strong for our furry friends who have a very sensitive sense of smell.

9oz candles are best for smaller rooms, such as a bedroom or bathroom. Our 16oz candles will fill a larger room, dining/ living room (not a large open space)

Are Your Candles Pet Safe?

Our candles are made from 100% all natural soy wax, cotton wicks, and phthalate and toxin free fragrance oils making our candles safe for you and your pet.

As a animal lover myself, I like to monitor my pets when lighting a new candle as they can be sensitive to certain smells the same way we are as humans.

Always light your candle in a well ventilated area and keep the door open to allow pets to come and go as they please

I've read that peppermint, citrus and other essential oils are toxic for pets, how are your scents safe?

Essential oils are all natural scents derived directly from a plant making them super concentrated, and more harmful for your pet’s sensitive sense of smell. We use fragrance oils which are composed of other toxin free aromas and a very small amount of the natural essential oil, making all of our fragrances safe for pets to be around.

What is the Average Burn Time?

Average burn time for our 9oz jars is approximately 35 hours and approximately 60 hours for our 16 oz jars.

*Burn times can vary based on how your burn your candle. We recommend burning your candle in 4 hour intervals. The longer you burn your candle the hotter the wax will be, speeding up the burn process.
